GUTTERING AND DOWNPIPE REMOVAL

Asbestos Guttering and Downpipe Removal Kent. The Grey Goods at Your Gutter Line.

Heavy Grey Guttering? That Is the Era Giving Itself Away

Asbestos guttering removal is one of the most frequent roofline jobs we handle across Kent. Heavy grey cement guttering with matching downpipes and hoppers was standard across interwar and post-war housing, and most runs are now cracked at the joints and overdue for replacement.

Fascia and soffit boards behind them are often asbestos cement too

FAQS

Guttering and Downpipe Removal FAQs

How do I know if my guttering is asbestos cement?

Weight, profile and age are reliable indicators. Pre-1980s installations in thick grey cement with cast-style hoppers are the classic profile. Confirmation requires a sample, which we take during the survey without disturbing the rest of the run.

Yes, if they are genuinely in sound condition. Asbestos cement in good shape is a manageable material. In practice, most runs at this age are well past watertight, and a replacement project is the right moment to take them off correctly rather than have a general roofer smash them down.

When it has been sitting inside asbestos cement guttering for decades, yes it is. It is treated as contaminated material and consigned with the cement. Tipping it into the garden or the green bin is a common mistake and one of the main reasons DIY gutter removal goes wrong.

We can coordinate the replacement through our re-roofing service or hand over to your own installer the same day with brackets stripped and the line cleared. There is no gap in weather protection either way. Tell us your preference at survey.

Not usually. Towers and access platforms cover the majority of domestic and commercial runs. Where the access genuinely requires a scaffold, this is confirmed at survey and included in the fixed price rather than raised as an additional charge afterwards.

They are collected and bagged as part of the job. Point out any fragments in borders, on flat roof sections or around gulleys during the survey visit and they will be included in the price.

Asbestos soffit removal is included in the same visit. The boards immediately behind cement guttering are frequently the same material, and clearing the entire roofline in a single access setup is more cost-effective than returning for a second visit. Raise it at survey and everything goes into one figure.

Most two-storey domestic runs are cleared in a morning, sludge included, timed so your installer can hang the replacement system the same afternoon. The expected programme duration is stated in your quotation alongside the price.

We carry out asbestos removal across Kent, covering Edwardian and interwar housing across Maidstone, Canterbury, Sevenoaks and Tonbridge, commercial parades from Dartford to Folkestone, and properties across the county and its borders. Send your postcode and we will confirm a same-week slot.
